Next Steps-2

WHEN YOU GIVE: A sermon from the founder of Calvary Chapel Movement on the concept of giving and tithing

NEXT STEP > GIVING

Giving Is a Step of Obedience

At Coastline, we believe giving is both an act of worship and a step of obedience in the Christian life.

Throughout Scripture, God's people honored Him by returning a portion of what He had entrusted to them. Giving reminds us that everything we have belongs to God and helps keep Him first in our hearts. It is one of the practical ways we demonstrate our trust in Him and participate in His mission.

Because of Christ, we have received forgiveness, grace, hope, and eternal life. We do not give to earn God's favor—we give because we have already received it. As followers of Jesus, generosity becomes a natural response to God's generosity and a tangible expression of our faith.

Your giving helps:

• Share the Gospel in our community and around the world
• Disciple children, students, and adults
• Support local and global missions
• Care for people in times of need
• Create environments where people can encounter Jesus
• Equip the next generation to follow Christ

Every gift helps advance our mission of seeing New Life in Jesus all along our Coastline.

What About Tithing?

The word tithe means "tenth."

Throughout Scripture, God's people honored Him by giving back a portion of what He had entrusted to them. While Christians hold different views regarding the relationship between tithing and the New Covenant, we believe the biblical tithe provides a meaningful starting point for Christian generosity.

More important than a percentage is the posture of the heart.

Scripture calls believers to give:

  • Worshipfully
  • Consistently
  • Cheerfully
  • Sacrificially
  • According to what God has provided

"Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." — 2 Corinthians 9:7

We Don't Give Out of Guilt

We do not give to earn God's favor.

We do not give because we are afraid.

We do not give because God needs our money.

We give because God has already been generous to us. Giving is simply one of the ways we respond to His goodness and participate in His work.

Financial Integrity

We take seriously the stewardship of every gift entrusted to Coastline.

Church finances are managed through established oversight, accountability, budgeting, and review processes. We are committed to using resources wisely to advance the mission God has given us and to maximize Kingdom impact through local ministry, outreach, missions, discipleship, and care.

Every time you give, you are helping people hear the Gospel, grow in their faith, find community, and experience the transforming power of Jesus Christ.

Together, we are seeing New Life in Jesus all along our Coastline.
