We Are Gifted but Humble
Read: Luke 1:46-56
Mary couldn’t hide God’s calling on her life—the Messiah would be born through her. In response, Mary sang a song of praise. When she said, “From now on, all generations will call me blessed,” it wasn’t pride. She recognized the incredible gift God had given her.
“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant” (Luke 1:47). God is pleased when we accept His gifts and use them for His glory. He created us for His purposes (Ephesians 2:10), and when we live out His calling, others will take notice. When that happens, do we give God the credit?
Mary knew that what was happening through her was all from God, not her own strength. Pride leads us to take credit or downplay God’s work, but humility acknowledges it as His gift. God’s strength enables us to make an eternal impact. So, lift your voice in praise, giving God the glory for the gifts He has given!
TAKE A MOMENT TO THINK:
> What are your gifts? Are you using them for God’s glory?
> How do you respond to compliments?
> How can we celebrate God’s work in us
while keeping the focus on Him?
