God Blesses Us Even When We Doubt
Read: Luke 1:5-25, Luke 1:57-66
Zechariah and Elizabeth longed for a child, but as the years passed, hope seemed lost. Despite being a priest, Zechariah struggled to believe when an angel announced that his prayers would be answered. His disbelief caused him to lose his voice—a silence reflecting his moment of doubt in God’s faithfulness.
“The angel said to him, ‘Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John… and many will rejoice at his birth’” (Luke 1:13-15).
During Elizabeth’s pregnancy, Zechariah’s faith deepened as he observed God’s promise taking shape. After their son’s birth, he obeyed and named the child John. Instantly, Zechariah’s voice returned, and he praised God, prophesying over his newborn.
Even when our faith wavers, God remains steadfast (2 Timothy 2:13). Our doubts don’t cancel His promises. Like Zechariah, we can grow in faith and serve without fear. God continues to bless us, even in our moments of uncertainty.
TAKE A MOMENT TO THINK:
> What does Zechariah’s story teach us about God’s patience?
> Is there an area where you’re struggling to trust God?
> How do you see God working in that situation?
