We Can Know God
Read: John 1:1-14
Imagine someone new moves into your neighborhood. You might notice details from afar—their car, their schedule, or if they have kids. But knowing about them is different from truly knowing them. To really know them, you’d need an introduction and conversation.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… All things were made through him” (John 1:1-3). Observing creation reveals some things about God’s power and His role as Creator, but it doesn’t let us know Him personally. To truly know God, we needed an introduction—Jesus, the Word of God, made this possible.
John 1:14 tells us, “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” The unseen God became visible through Jesus (Colossians 1:15). Because of Jesus, we can meet God, know Him, and even develop a friendship with Him.
TAKE A MOMENT TO THINK:
> How did you come to know God?
> How does Jesus reveal God to us?
> What does your friendship with Jesus look like?
