Who is Jesus?
Read: Luke 2:21-35

Christmas compels us to answer life’s biggest question: Who is Jesus?

“[Simeon] took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, ‘…my eyes have seen your salvation… a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel’” (Luke 2:28-32). In Luke 2, the Holy Spirit leads Simeon, a devout man, to the temple as Jesus is presented. Simeon praises God for letting him see the promised Messiah. He prophesies to Mary that Jesus will be “destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against” (Luke 2:33-35). This forces us to ask: Is Jesus just a holiday tradition or the Savior of the world?

When we recognize Jesus as Savior, our Christmas experience transforms. Gifts remind us of God’s blessings rather than being a stress. Gatherings become joyful celebrations, centered on the gift of Jesus. With Jesus at the heart of Christmas, every moment becomes an act of worship.

TAKE A MOMENT TO THINK:
> In Mark 8:29, Jesus asks Peter, “Who do you say I am?”
    How would you answer?
> What’s one way to put Jesus at the center of your day today?
