A Costly Blessing
Read: Luke 1:39-45
Upon hearing of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, Mary hurried to see her, and when she arrived, Elizabeth’s baby leaped in her womb. Elizabeth, filled with the Spirit, said, “God has blessed you above all women, and your child is blessed… Blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord” (Luke 1:42, 45).
Through Elizabeth, God reassured Mary that her faith was well-placed. Mary’s life was one of great blessing and purpose, even though it came at a cost. She faced many challenges, yet experienced a profound blessing that would one day be fully revealed in glory (Matthew 24:30-31).
God’s work in our lives often comes with challenges, but His plans for us are good. When we keep our eyes on Him, we find joy and fulfillment that only His presence can give, even when blessings feel costly.
TAKE A MOMENT TO THINK:
> What challenges are you facing today?
> Are you focusing on your struggles or on the Lord, your guide?
> What’s one way you can remind yourself of God’s love,
even when it feels distant?
