We’re Called to Prepare
Read: Luke 1:57-80, Malachi 3:1-4
When a celebration is in full swing with laughter and joy, all the planning feels worthwhile. John the Baptist’s calling wasn’t glamorous, but God appointed him to prepare the way for the Messiah. Filled with the Holy Spirit, John preached repentance, stirring people’s hearts to welcome the coming King.
“All these things were talked about throughout the hill country of Judea, and all who heard them kept them in their hearts, saying, ‘What then will this child be?’ For the hand of the Lord was with him” (Luke 1:65-66).
Preparing our hearts makes Christmas more than a busy season—it becomes a celebration of God’s saving work. During Advent, we slow down, fix our gaze on Jesus, reflect on His incarnation, and anticipate His return. May this Christmas season be different as we intentionally prepare our hearts to celebrate the arrival of King Jesus.
TAKE A MOMENT TO THINK:
> How can you prepare your heart to experience the fullness
of this Christmas season?
> How are daily practices like prayer and Bible reading helping
you prepare for what Jesus wants to do in and through you?
